Black platform boots: the real reason white women can’t work
On the heels of a white woman making history as the first black woman to become a tech professional, a black platform boot company is raising $25 million in seed funding from a number of venture capital firms to build a workforce of black women to work in tech and other digital careers.
The platform, which was created by a group of white women and is named Black platform booting, will offer female employees a range of employment options, including roles in data centers, video editing, data visualization, and data analytics, according to a press release.
The boot company has launched in partnership with a number other venture capital companies and is working to expand to a number more, including venture capital funding.
Black platform is a virtual work space, where black women can get to know each other and work with one another.
In the future, the company plans to expand into a full-time, full-year position, with an estimated workforce of 25 to 35 women.
The news comes amid a backlash against women in tech following the deaths of two Black women in 2017, and an ongoing debate over the gender pay gap.
On Tuesday, The Next World, a digital media company that has been criticized for hiring white women, announced it was cutting ties with Black female executives in order to make way for a new leadership team.
