GOP, Democrats on Trump’s “War on Women”
The Trump administration is considering banning all abortions for women who have been raped, according to a Republican-led task force.
The panel recommended that the Trump administration implement the policy and that the White House “support its implementation,” a White House official said.
The report, released Friday, is the latest indication that the administration is seeking to ban abortions as a way to fight sexual assault.
The task force is made up of representatives of both parties, but the panel is not part of the Democratic-controlled Senate.
The administration has already proposed banning abortions for rape victims in the first trimester of pregnancy, which is when the fetus can survive outside the womb.
That plan has drawn fierce criticism from abortion rights groups, and the president has said he will sign it.
